Bahai wins Outstanding Young Malaysian award

Lim was awarded the Outstanding Young Malaysian Awards 2006 (TOYM) for Moral or Religious Leadership by Junior Chambers International (JCI) Malaysia. The award is in recognition of his 13 years of outstanding contribution towards the development of academic, moral and spiritual education of children and youths from the Jenjarom community.

Soon Kam was nominated for the Award by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Malaysia. Endorsed by the Ministry of Youth & Sports of Malaysia, The Outstanding Young Persons of The World Programme (Jaycees, US) and the Malaysia Book of Records, this internationally acclaimed Award is to accord recognition to Soon Kam’s outstanding personal achievements and significant contributions to the welfare of the community through the implementation of the four core activities in Jenjarom Chinese New Village, situated 2 hours away from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Hari Wanita Malaysia 2000

In conjunction with the Hari Wanita 2000 several programs were organised by the The Women’s Affairs Department (HAWA) under the Prime Ministers Department, at The Kuala Lumpur “Suria Twin Towers fot three consequative days from the 27th to 28th August 2000. The theme for this year’s Hari wanita is “Nur-Bermula denganmu”(The Light – It begins With You.) Several organisations took part in the events. Among them was The Bahá’í Office for Advancement of Women (BOAW).

Within six weeks the Bahá’í youth put together a one hour presentation with the Theme “From Chains To Change” in the Celebration of Wanita 2000. They performed several items namely, a dance called Breaking The Chain Prejudice”, a Step Dance, “The Change-The Light of Unity, a song from the Choir group and a Zipoppo Show called “The Love Chain-If you love me…”
