More than 60 Baha’is from throughout Sarawak gathered in Kuching to attend a convention on 23 – 25 May 2008. The convention, an annual event, was held to elect a 9-member governing body of the Baha’is of Sarawak.
The election is a common feature throughout the worldwide Baha’i communities in more than 150 countries where Baha’is reside. Casting of ballots was by delegates who were elected in their respective localities.

During the visit of Counsellor G. Soraya to Miri on 18-19 August 2007, two rural communities had the honour of hosting a gathering held in conjunction with the visit. The first visit was to Sungai Nipa in Bakong cluster and the second to Rumah Tambi, in Niah cluster. In both gatherings, the focus is on increasing the number of tutors for study circles and having more children’s classes and junior youth groups.
