Visiting Long Tanyit

Bintulu:- “On 6 December 2002 we ( Banta Jalin, Nicholas Engkilan and Feather) left for our destination, Long Tanyit in the interior of Belaga District. That night we had to seek accommodation at Danum (logging) Camp due to lack of transport to continue our journey. The next day we got a lift to Long Tanyit. Our arrival was warmly welcomed by the believers and we stayed for two days. We organized devotional gatherings and discussed on ways how to initiate activities for the youth. Banta took the opportunity to show and explain how planting vegetables can help their economic situation and at the same time they can learn to raise fund for the Cause. We also went fishing and collected wild fern with the youth. We were just about to leave when one of the villagers who was not a Bahá’í approached and requested us to give a name for his newly born daughter. We agreed upon “Tahirih” and explained to the mother that Tahirih was a heroin of the Bahá’í Faith in the early days.

On the way, we once again had to seek accommodation at a logging camp until the next morning when transport to Bintulu would be available. The six-day trip was memorable and exciting for us. I would like to recommend that youth who like adventure and excitement to take up the challenge to teach the Cause in the interior.”
