16 July 2008 No Comment

Miri Community was privileged to play host to the visit of Counsellor George Soraya as well as all the members of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Sarawak from 19.10.2002 to 20.10.2002. The NSA members were all here for their monthly meeting which started on 19.10.2002

While here, the Counsellor and NSA members took the opportunity to inform all the friends gathered about the possible formation of a Regional Baha’i Council for Northern Sarawak. This council will oversee the Baha’i activities in northern Sarawak. The character of this Council is similar to the Sarawak State Baha’i Council which was in existence from 1991 to 1998.

Friends who gathered here for this event were members of the Auxiliary Board, representatives of Local Spiritual Assembly of Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang, Regional Teaching Committee North, Area Teaching Committees of Limbang, Miri/K.Baram/Bekenu, Bakong/Tinjar, Suai/Niah, and Bintulu and members of The Brunei and Miri communities.

The celebration of the Birthday of the Bab on the evening of 19.10.2002 was a lively affair. After the evening dinner, Counsellor George Soraya addressed the friends, and his talk was filled with love, admonitions, guidance, and leading the friends to greatly enhance the implementation and multiplication of study circles, devotional gatherings and children classes which is the Will of The Universal House of Justice today.

On 20.10.2002, the Counsellor had a busy day meeting with Regional Teaching Committee North, and Area Teaching Committee members as well as members of the Auxiliary Board. The National Spiritual Assembly continued with their meeting right after lunch.

The Local Spiritual Assembly of Miri then hosted a luncheon for the Counsellor, the Auxiliary Board Members, and members of the National Spiritual Assembly, Regional Teaching Committee North as well as visiting members of the Brunei community.
