Sibu Baha’is given land by Government

16 July 2008 No Comment

The Baha’i community of Sibu in Central Sarawak was given a piece of land by the Sarawak State Government. The land, located in the outskirt of Sibu Town, is in a new resettlement area and is among several other pieces allocated to other religious organisations.

The site is easily accessible through a gravel road, and is about 50m from a SESCo substation. Filling is required as the area is below the road level. Next to the land is a big earth drain, next to which a 50m access road would have to built to reach the Baha’i land. The allocation of this piece of land to the Sibu Baha’i community is further testimony that the Faith is recognised by the Government as a religion.
