38 Baha’is from Miri, Bintulu and Kpg Libai, Batu Niah participated in the Miri City Parade on 15th September 2001. The annual event was part of the Miri Fest or Pesta Miri organised by the Miri Municpal Council under the Tourism and Community Service Committee. More than 3000 participants from schools, government departments, private sectors and associations took part in the parade. The event was divided into parade, open parade, schools, float, government departments/agencies, private sector and associations. The Baha’i Community took part in the parade open category with 20 other associations.

The Baha’i contingent worn colourful traditional costumes of different ethnic groups such as the Orang Ulu, Iban, Chinese, Punjabi and Pakistani. The theme used by the Bahá’í group was ‘We are the flowers of one garden’ A banner with the word: ‘Miri Baha’i Community & We are the flowers of one garden’ was displayed prominently for the 2.8 Kilometre route along the Miri town centre. At the end of the parade, we received a trophy from the Organiser (MMC) for being the fourth among the 20 associations in the parade‑open category. The Local Spiritual Assembly wishes to say a big thank you to all those who had participated in the parade. We hope to see the same support for the next parade in 2002.
