Formation of Regional Councils in Sarawak
With heartfelt joy the Spiritual Assembly announces that the Universal House of Justice feels it is timely to form by appointment Regional Bahá’í Councils in Sarawak.
The formation of Regional Councils for the northern and southern region will take effect on the Day of the Covenant, 26 November 2003. It was decided that the number of membership of each council be 9 (nine).
The election of the 9 members shall be based on the following procedure:.
Each member of the Local Spiritual Assembly in the respective region will be invited to vote for 9 believers whom he/she thinks should be members of the council. Names of the elected believers should be adult Bahá’í residents of the region. The voting of the 9 names shall follow the normal procedure of Bahá’í election whereby the sanctity of the election is observed.

The two Regional Teaching Committees will be organizing an electoral meetings in their respective region whereby ballot papers from the members of Local Assemblies concerned shall be collected and submitted to the National Spiritual Assembly for counting. The date and venue of the electoral meetings shall be determined by the Regional Teaching Committees.
The result of the electoral meetings will be submitted to the National Assembly not later than 19 November 2003. These will then form a nomination list from which the National Assembly will choose the members of the Regional Council. The members of the Councils will be announced on the Day of Covenant, 26 November 2003.
