Children’s Class Campaign in Kuching
I’m glad to share with you that we held a Children Class pre-campaign last weekend (7-9th Feb) with assistance from Mdm Parvaneh, a resource person from West Malaysia, the National Child Education Committee and Sarawak Bahá’í Institute. The venue was the CAWF office at Jalan Keretapi. The purpose of this pre-campaign was to bring the friends (those having completed Ruhi Book 3 and/or Children’s Class teachers) to study more on the importance of moral education (using Ruhi Book 3) and for the multiplication of the children’s classes and to bring in the seekers. Total participants were 33 from Kuching/Padawan/Samarahan, Serian/Bukar Sadong, Balai Ringin/Gedong, Bau/Lundu, Sebuyau/Sebangan.
- 1st day: Mdm Parvaneh met with the tutors and had a deepening session on the Ruhi Book 3 and discussed the problem in the clusters.
- 2nd day: Had a combination of studying Ruhi Book 3 and new skills e.g singing, art craft, games and drawing. This is very interesting and we learned how to explain to the children the meaning of the prayer through drawing .
- 3rd day: Discussion on the issue/situation of children’s classes in each cluster such as how to increase the quality of the classes, how to sustain the children’s classes and the curriculum. From this section, the participant realised that some clusters still lack of proper curriculum and they have to work closely with the Local Assembly. There is also a need to form a task force for potential clusters to work as a team and develop some teaching aids.
The outcome of this pre-campaign, the participants pledge to become better tutors of Ruhi Book 3 and to open new classes or to have regular children classes. Also they realised the importance of bringing in the children of non-Baha’is to the children’s class and to get the involvement of the parents. The participants from Serian would also conduct similar course in their localities…
We planned to meet again in another three months to follow up on the development and to invite more friends to attend. We seek your prayers for the success of our children’s classes.”
