A new chapter in Sarawak’s history - Regional Council
The newly elected and appointed Regional Council members of both the northern and southern region had a joint meeting with Counsellors, members of the National Spiritual Assembly and the Auxiliary Board on the weekend of 27-28 December 2003, in Kuching. Initially the meeting looked like “business as usual”, but towards the end of it most participants realized and admitted that the councils would bear heavy responsibility in the future unlike that of their predecessors, the regional teaching committees.
Counsellors George Soraya and Jayagopan conveyed adequately the anticipated role of the regional councils alongside the Sarawak Bahá’í Institute and its subsidiaries. The duties of each institutions, listed in minute details, left little doubt in the minds of the participants, that with full collaborations, much can be achieved in this State in the near future.
The participants were again reminded of the goals and plans made during the past national institutional meetings in which the more advanced clusters were targeted for achieving category A by Ridvan 2004 or later in the year. Strategies for advanced clusters were again clearly spelled out so as to form a basis for consultation and possible collaboration between cluster institute coordinators and the regional councils.
